besides, it's not always a *choice*, she had legal obligation to work in Mad Money, even if she wanted to she couldn't do The Dark Knight - prior arrangement with the Mad Money production team wouldn't let her leave the project (it's called "scheduling conflicts"). But as I said, the rumors are that she took the box-office thing personal.
They say she returned for the Dark Knight Rises, though.

not as Rachel, as her mother in a flashback, I'm not sure if this information is valid or not, but there's a rumor.|||Basically, she was busy doing Mad Money when she was called for Dark Knight so she couldn't do the role. I'm not sure if she turned down Dark Night for Mad Money or if she was already involved with the other movie so she couldn't work on Dark Night.
